Some personal statements from our tutors...
Nandini
Hi, I’m Nandini, a first-year Chemistry student. Tutoring in chemistry and learning with Varsity Tutors deepened my love for the subject and inspired me to apply to Oxford. Varsity Tuition has been instrumental in my journey, helping me improve my grades, transition smoothly from GCSEs to A-levels, and perfect my personal statement.
"Inspired by my tutors’ enthusiasm"
They even arranged opportunities for me to connect with current university students. This holistic support has been transformative. Inspired by my tutors’ enthusiasm, I strive to do more than teach my students, offering guidance and practical advice to help them excel.

Samreen
Hi, I’m Samreen, currently training to become a teacher after achieving my Chemical Engineering degree from Imperial College London.
"My journey taught me resilience"
Moving to England at 13 meant learning English and adapting to a new education system, but hard work helped me achieve grades that secured a place at a grammar school. I initially chose A-levels in Maths, Further Maths, and Chemistry based on enjoyment, which proved invaluable.
Though I began studying Pharmacy at King’s, I soon realised it wasn’t for me and switched to Chemical Engineering at Imperial, where I found the perfect blend of Maths and Chemistry. My journey taught me resilience, and as a tutor, I encourage students to embrace challenges and trust that success comes with effort and time.
Zora
Hi, I’m Zora, a fourth-year dental student at the University of Sheffield. I deferred my entry due to COVID, using the extra time to develop new skills and prepare for university life.
"Balancing academics with extracurricular activities"
While dentistry is my passion, I value being a well-rounded individual, balancing academics with extracurricular activities to improve my organisation and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
I’ve learned that while setting goals is important, enjoying the journey matters just as much. I encourage my students to adopt this perspective, knowing that with discipline and dedication, they can achieve their goals.
Arjun
Hi, I’m Arjun, a third-year medical student at the University of Sheffield. Deciding on a career path wasn’t easy, so I chose to take a gap year to explore options, gain work experience, and clarify my goals.
"With an active social life and even play hockey for the university team"
This decision confirmed that medicine was right for me, and when I reapplied, I was much more confident and received multiple offers. Studying at Sheffield has been a fantastic experience, allowing me to balance academics with an active social life and even play hockey for the university team.
If you’re considering a gap year, my advice is to set clear goals, use the time to grow, and trust your journey. Move at your own pace but push yourself to open new doors.
Esher
Hi, I’m Esher, a first-year MORSE student at Warwick University. My path to university wasn’t straightforward—I explored several career options before finding MORSE.
"Independently studying Further Maths in less than a year, achieving 4 A*s"
One constant, however, was my passion for mathematics. In Year 13, I took on the challenge of independently studying Further Maths in less than a year, achieving 4 A*s. Now, as a Varsity Tuition tutor, I aim to help students become independent, confident learners and support them in achieving their goals.
My advice? Never underestimate yourself. Growth happens when you step outside your comfort zone, so embrace challenges and always ask for help when needed.
